This is a 10 layer silkscreen and stencil print inspired by photographs of protesters climbing the walls of the Capital on January 6th 2021 and congressmen being ushered out of chambers by aides. I wanted to capture the moment when congressmen felt they were physically in danger, and ran to seek safety from the people who had forcibly entered the building. The text is a reference to the chants of the “protesters” in the capital that day; “whose house? our house”. The question of who this country belongs to, and the idea that it could belong to anyone, is still an open one.
